Ever find yourself in a relationship that feels… off? Like you’re trying to win a game you didn’t even know you signed up for? One day you’re walking on eggshells, the next day you’re getting the silent treatment like you offended the Queen of England. (Spoiler: it’s just a grown man pretending to be a Victorian ghost.)
We stay because we think we can fix it. Or because we’re scared. Or because we’ve been convinced it’s somehow our fault that he’s moody, distant, or allergic to basic kindness. We nibble away at little red flags—one bite at a time—until one day we look up and… boom. There’s a giant elephant-sized wall in front of us and we wonder how on earth we got here.
And then there’s the “karma trap.” Some tell themselves they have to stick it out because this is a past-life lesson to conquer. Friend, no. You are not paying off a cosmic parking ticket. If you did have past lives, you died and were in the presence of God. You were perfectly cleansed. We often use the karma excuse because leaving feels too hard—like we need a reason to stay just one more day.
Confirmations of cheating? Once you know the truth, you can grieve honestly and fully. You can face the sadness, the loss, the anger, and go through all of the steps to clear yourself out and get better. That’s where healing starts—not by staying stuck in something that is slowly draining you.
No matter what your circumstance, you don’t need to earn your worth. You don’t need to “conquer” a toxic relationship to prove anything to the universe. You deserve safety, love, and peace.
So do your kiddos.
And if he can’t give it? Release him into the wild and let him figure it out on his own. (Wild animals tend to do fine out there.)
